The Federation of Jewish Charities will mark its 50th anniversary this week-end. Synagogues throughout the city will observe “Federation Golden Anniversary Sabbath” with special messages read by the rabbis from their pulpits.
In its half-century of service the federation has spent or distributed a total of about $51,500,000 for budgetary grants to help meet the operating expenses of its constituent agencies, and capital funds for buildings and equipment. At present, the Federation includes 22 agencies, among them modern hospitals, social services, and leisure time centers that directly benefit 100,000 men, women and children yearly of every creed.
