A lecture course “in the role of the police officer in the prevention and control of tension and conflict among persons of different racial, religious and national backgrounds” along with their regular training at the Police College, has been added to the training of all police rookies here.

“No agency of government can be more effective in furthering good race relations than the police, declared Director of Public Safety Samuel H. Rosenberg. “The course will attempt to impress on the new enforcement officers that as policemen they must administer the law with complete impartiality. By doing so they will serve the cause of democracy in its highest and best meaning, and promote a greater respect for the law and the Bureau of Police.”
