The traditionally liberal policy pursued by the Polish government towards the racial minorities of the country found its reward in their attitude towards the government, said Stanislaw Lepkowski, Polish charge d’affaires, in commenting on Sunday’s election.
In many of the electoral districts, Ukrainians, Jews and others voted for the Cooperation Bloc candidates, Mr. Lepkowski stated, and many of their representatives were elected on the government ticket, he added. In this connection he pointed out that on the eve of the election, 163 rabbis issued a joint appeal to their co-religionists to support government candidates. This he said “speaks eloquently of the sentiments of the Jewish masses in Poland.”
