Rabbi Albert Friedlander, a former dean of the Leo Baeck College, died in London at the age of 77. The Berlin-born Progressive rabbi, who died July 8, became a leader in the World Union for Progressive Judaism, where he rose to become vice president of the Reform group. In 2001, he became the first rabbi born outside of Britain to receive the Order of Merit from Queen Elizabeth II.
