Rabbi Joseph Ginsburg, the Gaon of Smargon, died November 19 at the age of 74. He was the descendant of a long line of famous Rabbis, and the author of a number of celebrated writings. He was not affiliated with any party. Numerous Rabbis from all parts of Poland attended the funeral. The whole of the Jewish population of Smargon followed the funeral procession. All shops in the town were closed for the day.
