The sixteenth annual conference of the Chicago Rabbinical Association opened here today at the Covenant Club with an address by Professor Wilhelm Pauck of the Chicago Theological Seminary on the newer theological trends in Germany. Other events of the first day of the conference were to be an address on modern philosophical trends by Rabbi Felix A. Levy of Temple Emanuel, and an address on direct and indirect light on the Old Testament by Professor A. T. Olmstead of the University of Chicago.
Tomorrow’s sessions will open with the reading of a paper by Dr. Samuel A. Goldsmith, executive director of the Jewish Charities of Chicago, on “Relation of Jewish Education to the Community Welfare Organization”. Dr. A. M. Dushkin, executive director of the Board of Jewish Education, will discuss “Purposes, Theories and Application of Modern Jewish Education”. Discussions following the addresses will be led by Rabbis Samuel A. Blumenfield and B. H. Birnbaum and Dr. Julius Siegel. Arrangements for the conference were made by Rabbi G. George Fox. Officers of the Association are Rabbi S. Felix Mendelsohn, president; Rabbi A. L. Lassen, vice-president, and Rabbi. Harry Z. Zwelling, secretary.
