A quota of $450,000 was set here last night as New York’s share in the $1,875,000 national drive of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations and the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. The New York quota was established at a meeting of representatives of 52 Reform congregations in this city.
Chief speaker at the dinner meeting, which also marked the opening of the 1950 Reform movement’s fund-raising campaign in New York, was Dr. Maurice N. Eisendrath, president of the U.A.H.C. Other speakers included Albert M. Kahn, who was named chairman of the New York drive; Frank Well, president of the Jewish Welfare Board; Frederick Greenman, president of the New York Federation of Reform Synagogues; and Rabbis Jonah B. Wise, William F. Rosenblum and Louis I. Newman.
