Thousands of Rumanian Jewish youths will be allowed to immigrate to Israel soon in a move by the Rumanian Government to permit the re-unification of families now separated, Moshe Kol, director of the Youth Aliyah movement, told a press conference here today.
Mr. Kol also expressed hope that the Polish and Hungarian Governments would soon permit Jewish orphans to come to Israel. He noted, however, that this “encouraging news” would find the Youth Aliyah not completely prepared, because of a shortage of funds.
Mr. Kol reported that there were currently some 13,000 children in Youth Aliyah institutions and 500 more were being accepted monthly. He hailed the accomplishments of the Hadassah, Pioneer Women and Women’s International Zionist Organization in the United States and Canada in behalf of youth immigration.
