In his maiden speech in the Senate, Chief Rabbi Alexander Safran yesterday emphasized the loyalty of the Rumanian Jewish population, paid tribute to the Royal Family and called upon Jews to continue their efforts for defense of the country. The address, delivered in the presence of Foreign Minister Grigoire Gafencu and Religions Minister I. Nistor, was respectfully received by the Senate and made an excellent impression. Dr. Safran, who was recently appointed Chief Rabbi at the age of 30, is the sole Jewish representative in Parliament.
