Sailors Jailed for Smuggling Refugees into England

Two sailors, a German and a Netherlander, were condemned to three months’ imprisonment for having smuggled a German-Jewish refugee into the country. The refugee, Richard Sommer, pleaded guilty and was ordered deported. The two other defendants were Max Schermewsky, a German, and Carl Louis Plansoen.
