A minor riot occurred here today at the free matzoh distributing center when the director of the institution refused to receive needy Jews who asked to see him. When his refusal became known the office was invaded and knives were drawn. One of the mob was injured in the scuffle.

The poverty existing among the Jews of Salonica may be judged from the fact that more than half the Jewish population of the city has applied for Passover relief.
