Funeral services were held here for Samuel P. Schwartz, one of Indiana’s most prominent criminal attorneys and prosecuting attorney of St. Joseph county for three terms. Mr. Schwartz died suddenly Friday of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was forty-one years old and is survived by his widow and one daughter.

He was well-known as a crossexaminer and for his use of the “insanity plea” as a defense advocate. He was known as a careful student of law and literature. He was active in the work of the Democratic party and in B’nai Brith circles and Temple Beth-El activities.
