The display of signs reading “This is a German store,” was prohibited by a joint order of the Ministry of Economics and the Ministry of Propaganda. The order requires that these signs, which aim to emphasize the difference between Jewish and non-Jewish stores, be removed “until general official regulations are issued.”

The decree is considered a move by Dr. Schacht, Minister of Economics, against Julius Streicher, who is very active in promoting display of the signs.
