Schleswig-holstein to Complete Compensation Payments to Nazi Victims

The West German State of Schleswig-Holstein will be the first state in the Federal Republic to complete its indemnification payments to victims of nazism, it was announced here today by Helmut Lemke, the state’s Minister of the Interior.

Mr. Lemke said that, of a total of 42,338 claims for indemnification filed in this state, only 1,117 are still pending. Schleswig-Holstein, he reported, has paid out a total of 173,000,000 marks (over $43,000,000) in indemnification to victims of nazism.
