The Security Council today voted 13-0 to renew the mandate of the 1200-member United Nations Disengagement Observer Force on the Golan Heights for another six months. The People’s Republic of China and Iraq did not participate in the vote, continuing their policy of not voting on the UN forces mandate in the Mideast. The resolution called upon the parties concerned “to implement immediately Security Council Resolution 335” which was adopted after the Yom Kippur War. The votes came shortly after the Council convened today. Neither Syria nor Israel asked to speak on the issue.
