(Jewish Daily Bulletin)
Senator William H. King of Utah, who was principal speaker at the Hias banquet where $10,000 was raised toward a quota of $50,000, was presented with a small parchment Sefer Torah as he was leaving the city for Washington. The presentation was made by S. B. Komaiko, of the Hias Committee.
Accepting the Sefer Torah from Mr. Komaiko, Senator King said: “I have seen while in Europe the sorrow, suffering and poverty of the Jews, whose courage and faith in the Torah keeps them alive. I will cherish this Holy Scroll all my life.”
