Settlers on the Golan Heights made it clear that they are nervous over their own future and fear Israel’s evacuation of Sinai may one day be repeated in their region in the context of peace with Syria. A group of Golah settlers, joined by neighbors from Upper Galilee, signed a petition calling on the government to declare the Galan Heights part and parcel of Israel. The meeting at Ayelet Hashahar was sponsored by the Labor Party and addressed by party leaders, including former foreign Minister Yigal Allon.
