Shalom Ben-Amram, leader of the Samaritan community, died Sunday at age 82. Ben-Amram, who led the Samaritans from their communal base outside Nablus and was a member of the Palestinian legislative council, was to be buried Monday after passing away overnight. Numbering only a few hundred members, the Samaritans are believed to be an ancient offshoot of Judaism, practicing their own versions of Jewish custom.
