Stadium Lists Fokine Ballet for Two Nights

The Fokine Ballet will be featured for a second time at the Stadium tomorrow night and Tuesday in “Scheherazade,” Rimsky-Korsakoff’s melodious suite. The following will dance in the leading roles: Betty Eisner, Paul Haakon, Vladimir Valentinoff, George Church and Michael Dido.

After an orchestral number, the second ballet will be given, “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” to music by Paul Dukas, which will be followed by “The Elves” danced by a large troupe of young men and girls to music from Mendelssohn’s overture to “Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

Wednesday night Jose Iturbi will present a Grieg-Franck program in which he will appear as both pianist and conductor. He will conduct the Peer Gynt Suite and than play the Grieg Piano Concerto, simultaneously directing the orchestra. The Cesar Franck symphony will be heard after the intermission.

Moussorsky’s opera, “Boris Godounoff,” is scheduled for Thursday and Friday night under the baton of Alexander Smallens. The company, with the exception of George Dubrovsky, is that of The Art of Musical Russia, Inc.
