Syria’s defense minister reportedly canceled plans to read his doctoral thesis at the University of Paris after a protest by a human rights group. Mustafa Tlas had been due to read the thesis on the history of Syria’s borders at the university on Sept. 11. But the League against Racism and Anti-Semitism protested, saying Tlas had written an anti-Semitic book several years ago.
