The German Parliament passed a bill establishing a $5 billion fund for Nazi-era slave laborers. As a result, payments could begin later this year, German officials said. The lawmakers also passed a resolution apologizing to victims for what the Nazis did to them, including “taking away their rights, displacement, maltreatment and exploitation.”
