The great majority of the leaders of the Jewish population of Salonica are maintaining an attitude of expectation with regard to the approaching general elections, which have been fixed for the 5th of March. The new Governor General of Salonica is attempting to win over part of Jewish public opinion to the Venizelist party by pointing out all that the Prime Minister has done for the Jews on various occasions.

M. Venizelos is coming here to deliver an important political speech. He will also probably avail himself of this opportunity to make clear the attitude which he intends to adopt towards the Jews.
