The Israel-born Elyakim Shapira has been appointed conductor of the Overijssels Philharmonic Orchestra in Holland. He takes his post next September. Shapira, who studied at the Julliard School of Music in the U.S., was for a time the conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Malmo, Sweden, before his appointment here.
