The Israeli consulate in New York has put some 500 Israelis currently in New York in touch with their families in Israel. The Israeli consul in New York, Alon Pinkas, said consulate workers are checking local hospitals for victims with Israeli-sounding names, Israel’s Army Radio reported Wednesday. The Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem has received the names of 4,000 Israelis believed to have been in the areas of the World Trade Center and Pentagon at the time of Tuesday’s attacks.
