The number of new investigations of World War II-era crimes nearly doubled in the past year, a Jewish group said. There were 659 new probes into alleged Holocaust criminals, initiated in 11 countries, between April 1, 2004, and March 31, 2005, the Simon Wiesenthal Center said in its fifth annual report of such crimes.
