The Orthodox Union commended Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) for backing faith-based initiatives. Kerry, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, has said that if elected he would take care to preserve church-state separation in redrafting executive orders by President Bush to make federal money available to faith-based non-profits, but he would not eliminate the program. Kerry wants to ensure that no federal money goes to proselytizing.
