The Palestinian leadership issued a statement calling for the U.N. Security Council to convene and for the international community to act “to bring an end” to Israel’s tightened blockades of West Bank cities. Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Yehuda Lancry, said the Palestinians called on U.N. officials to dispatch an armed international observer force to the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
