The Palestinians need to receive “a heavy blow” before they will return to negotiations, Ariel Sharon said. Speaking to reporters after appearing Monday before the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, the Israeli prime minister said that Israel “must first hit them hard so that it is clear to them that they will achieve nothing through terror. If it is not made clear to them that they are overpowered, we will not be able to return to negotiations.”
