The president of Argentina, Carlos Menem, signed an extradition order for a former commander of a Croatian concentration camp. Croatia has sought the extradition of Dinko Sakic to face war crimes charges for the murders of an estimated 500,000 Jews, Serbs and Gypsies at the Jasenovac concentration camp during World War II. Sakic recently admitted on Argentine television that he headed the camp, but he denied that he was responsible for any murders there.
