The U.S. assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs rejected reports that the United States is about to present a take-it-or-leave-it proposal to advance the deadlocked Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. But, in testimony before a Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee, Martin Indyk said, “There’s only so far we can go before saying, `There’s nothing more we can do'” and leave the hard choices to the two sides to work out for themselves.
