The United States is trying to prevent money it already granted the Palestinian Authority from reaching a Hamas-led government. “We are making some efforts already to secure funding that may have been already granted,” Condoleezza Rice, the U.S. secretary of state, said Wednesday in Senate hearings. The Bush administration set aside $50 million last year for Palestinian Authority projects.
