The White House criticized Israel’s decision to close the offices of the top Palestinian official in Jerusalem. In a statement issued Wednesday, the Bush administration said the action taken Tuesday against Sari Nusseibeh, considered a moderate among Palestinian officials, was “a troubling event.”
