The Zionist Federation of Switzerland at its annual meeting in Zurich Sunday elected Max Besserman president. The meeting issued a declaration condemning the anti-Semitic campaign in the Soviet Union. It called on the USSR to free Anatoly Sharansky and Iosif Begun and demanded that the Soviets adhere to the Helsinki accord. The Swiss Committee for Russian Jews wired Soviet Communist Party Secretary Leonid Brezhnev asking that Sharansky and Begun be released.
