Thousands of Jews Jobless As Polish Factories Close

December 10, 1930
See Original Daily Bulletin From This Date

Thousands of Jewish workers in Lodz, Wolyn and other cities were thrown out of work today by the closing of a number of textile factories. Economic depression is blamed for the shut-down. The bulk of workers affected by the lay-off are in Lodz where the Grohman and Gyer plant notified their workmen that the factories would close for a month because of the standstill in the textile industry.

Two hundred Jewish workers were left jobless in Kostopol when the only Jewish-owned furniture factory closed down.
