David Landau is only seventeen years old. He is five feet six inches tall and weighs 146 pounds. He does not appear a heroic figure.
Yet this little town is preparing to give a hero’s homage to Landau. He will be presented with a medal before a meeting of the council. A dinner at which he will be the honored guest is part of the plans being arranged by local citizens and officials in his honor.
A volunteer lifesaver, Landau already is credited with the rescues of fifteen persons from the Ramapo River during the past year. July 29 he climaxed his feats when he saved two men capsized from a canoe and then dived into the water again to rescue a woman. A week previous, the youthful hero pulled in a 200-pound man.
