Turkey Will Not Assign New Ambassador to Israel; Old Envoy Recalled

Turkey will not assign a new Ambassador to Israel to replace the one recalled in 1956, Turkish Foreign Minister Rustu Zorlu said in Karachi, according to reports received here today.

Mr. Zorlu, who is accompanying Premier Advan Menderes on a trip across Asia to Japan, recalled at a press conference in the capital of Moslem Pakistan that the Turkish Ambassador was summoned home during Israel’s Sinai operation against Egypt.
