Two Israeli soldiers who were abducted by Hezbollah last year reportedly are alive, the Hezbollah leader said.

Ma’ariv on Sunday quoted Sheik Hassan Nasrallah as telling a German mediator during a recent meeting in Beirut that Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, whose capture in a July 12 border raid sparked a war between Israel and the Lebanon-based terrorist organization, are alive. According to Ma’ariv, Nasrallah said he would not release evidence on the state of the soldiers’ health unless Israel agrees to release several high-profile Arab terrorists from its jails.

Israel has said that Goldwasser and Regev sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries while being take hostage. Israel at first ruled out a prisoner swap but has since showed signs of relenting.
