The Mendel N. Fisher Forest in Israel, the planting of which was decided upon at the Jewish National Fund conference in Washington last week-end, is now two-thirds completed, it was revealed here today. The forest is to number 20,000 trees in recognition of the twenty years which Mr. Fisher is now rounding out as executive director of the Jewish National Fund. To date, funds for 15,000 trees were received from delegates and friends for the forest bearing his name.
At the concluding banquet of the Washington JNF conference, Dr. Harris J. Levine, president, on behalf of the board of directors, presented a special plaque to Mr. Fisher “for his twenty consecutive years of fruitful service as executive director of the Jewish National Fund, distinguished by breadth of vision, wise counsel, indefatigable effort and exemplary zeal which, in a large measure, promoted the growth of our organization.”
