U.N. delegates heard speaker after speaker condemn Israeli settlement activity during a meeting Monday in Cairo to discuss Palestinian rights. The delegates also prepared for a meeting next month that could call for a ban on settlement activity under the Fourth Geneva Convention, an international agreement that bans the usurpation of land by an occupying power. Israel, a signatory to the convention, claims that the territory it captured in the 1967 Six-Day War is Jewish land.
