U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan visited Damascus to discuss a resumption of Israeli-Syrian negotiations and a proposal for Israel to withdraw its troops from southern Lebanon. Annan has already visited Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon and is slated to visit Israel and the self-rule areas.
