U.N. Truce Chief Gets Egypt’s Appeal Against Bat Galim Release

Maj. Gen. E. L. M. Burns, chief of staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization, announced today receipt of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organization, announced today receipt of the Egyptian Government’s appeal against the decision of the Israel-Egypt Mixed Armistice Commission rejecting Egypt’s complaint dealing with the Bat Galim. Gen. Burns has not yet decided whether to hold a second hearing on the case, as requested by Egypt.

The Israel-Jordan MAC, meanwhile, declared Jordan in violation of the armistice agreement for constructing a fence in no man’s land in Jerusalem. With Israel voting negatively, the MAC last took cognizance of a Jordan pledge to remove the fence immediately.
