U.S. Rep. Tom Lantos (D-Calif.) has asked Iranian President Mohammed Khatami for a meeting in Tehran. Lantos, the only Holocaust survivor in Congress and a senior member of the House International Relations Committee, said in a statement, “The time has come to explore the possibility of improving relations between the United States and Iran.”
