An American seismic expert left New York today for Israel, where he will work on oil resource development, it was reported here. The expert, Eugene B. Thomas, is being sent there by the United Nations Technical Assistance Administration, at the request of the Israel Government.
Mr. Thomas’ special concern within the field of oil resources development, will be the seismic survey of Israel’s territory, an essential phase in the search for possible oil deposits. The deposits are detected by the measurement of wave movements on a seismograph, following the explosion of dynamite in adjacent rocks. Thomas will remain in Israel for a year.
