The mass immigration of new Jewish settlers from some sections of Bira Bidjan approximates over 50 percent while in other places, the percentage is twenty, according to a wired report received today by the Moscow Comzet, governmental department for settling Jews on land and in agriculture from the Far Eastern Comzet.
The report draws attention to the decision of the Zik to declare Bira Bidjan an autonomous Jewish region by the end of 1933 and comments that there is danger that this will not be possible.
An urgent plea for relief is made. The report points out that building operations have been totally discontinued owing to lack of timber and other materials as well as the deficiencies of management and the shortage of food.
The “Emess” reports that in Bira Bidjan a fowl costs fifteen roubles and an egg two roubles.
