Vandals painted swastikas on military equipment that is part of a World War II memorial in eastern Slovakia. Two swastikas were painted on an airplane and another was sprayed on a tank displayed in the open-air memorial, said Pavol Sivak, spokesman for a local organization. The area of the Dukla Pass, where the memorial is located, was the scene of a bloody 1944 battle between Soviet, Czechoslovak and German troops.
