Vice-President Alben W. Barkley today received the “1950 Histadrut Humanitarian Award” in recognition of his services to Israel and the Histadrut. The award was made by Joseph Schlossberg, general chairman of the National Committee for Labor Israel, in a special ceremony in the Vice-President’s office in the Senate office building.
The Vice-President expressed appreciation for the award and said Israel was “a beacon of light not only for that area but for all over the world.” He added that he was especially proud to be the recipient of the award “because of its meaning in connection with labor Israel.”
