Vice President Richard M. Nixon announced today the convocation of a conference on Friday of representatives of state and municipal agencies concerned with the elimination of discrimination in employment. The purpose of this conference, Mr. Nixon said, is to acquaint these agencies with the national equal job opportunity program and explore ways in which Federal, state and local agencies can cooperate.
President Eisenhower, who appointed a committee in August, 1953, to deal with enforcement of the non-discrimination clause in Federal contracts, will receive the conferees at the White House at noon on Friday. The conference sessions will be in the form of workshops and will not be open to the press.
