United Nations Secretary General Kurt Waldheim today termed the Salzburg summit meeting between President Ford and Egyptian President Anwar Sadat a contribution towards peace in the Middle East.
“The talks in Salzburg were a contribution towards peace in the Middle East and may case further negotiation efforts,” Waldheim told a radio interviewer. He said he does not think that a political break-through towards a Middle East solution will be achieved in the near future.
Asked about a renewed shuttle mission by Secretary of State Henry A. Kissinger, the UN official said: “We have learned from Arab countries that Kissinger’s shuttle diplomacy should not be continued.”
