Washington’s Best Energies Applied to Middle East Problem

Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr., chairman of the United States delegation here, declared today that Washington is “devoting all of its best energies in an effort to solve the problems that beset the Middle East, because those problems are of the greatest concern to the United States. “

Mr. Lodge made that comment at a press conference at which he expressed gratification with the general outlook in international affairs at the present time. Among the recent international developments that he found gratifying, Mr. Lodge said, is the Anglo-Egyptian agreement on the Suez Canal.
