A man was arrested here today for desecrating the West Side Jewish Center, an Orthodox synagogue, whose Ark he slashed with a knife. He also broke candlesticks and a memorial tablet and ripped several hundred prayer books and prayer shawls. The man, Seutomir Novakovic, a recent immigrant from Yugoslavia, was sent to Bellevue Hospital for observation.
